Geothermal condos in Halifax!

Geothermal is catching on in a big way here in Halifax!
Greater homes is actually on it's way to being the first
to heat a condo building with the technology.

It is the first condo of the sorts! So if you want to "Think Green"  and concerned with the price
of oil ...... It's something to check in to!

Waterton Contract Holder said:

I am a contract holder at the Waterton and have experienced nothing but disgraceful customer service, broken promises, and neglect.  I would never buy another property from Greater Homes and I would discourage anyone from buying a new project from them.  It has been a nightmare.

These are ultimately going to be great condos, as soon as Greater Homes is out of the picture.  I was just googling to see if there were any websites about this project and found the above comment.  I am also a contract holder and have experienced the same frustration.  Word on the street is that Greater Homes is losing their shirt on this project, so that should give you some revenge.  I would agree with the above statement in that if you have a choice, buy one of these after GH is long gone.  Dealing with them is a nightmare.

Also a fustrated holder...And now they want us to move in when they have not even filed the papers to the registry...Only a draft...This means months of paying .00725% of what you owe on the condo that would be $1500.00 a month for me as well as taxes and condo fees..None of which go towards my mortgage...

Any help with information on this would be good..

Thanks

Frustrated:  Apparently there are huge problems with unpaid contractors, builders liens, etc.  Stay the course though.  When it is all done you will make your money, but to anyone else....STAY AWAY FROM GREATER HOMES!  It's like a scam.

This is where Waterton Contract Holder is seeing this information.  Not sure if it is true but I have been hearing this a lot from others.  Read the comments on this article.

Yes, when I say "Apparently" I mean that based on what I have read at that link and what various people have told me.  I think there is a way for you to check if there are liens on the building.  I don't know what's going on anymore than anyone else in my position.  I just want a resolution.  It is hard when people keep telling you about all kinds of problems there beyond what you are aware of.

Mr. Potential Contract Holder said:

Liens have to be released 62 days after the occupancy permit has been granted. Upon investigation, I found many claims are erroneous. I viewed the contract and it is the same one that everybody signed. In most cases, I found that people are upset because they didn’t read the contract or their lawyer did not opt to make any changes. If you agree to something, like occupancy fees between occupancy and registration, and it says “must occupy” and the fees are stipulated, how can it be credited towards a mortgage? Who covers the cost to carry the building the entire time prior to closing? The builder. When does the builder get paid? Upon registered closing.

I have found that any questions I have asked have been answered. I made a couple of minor alterations, and I have a good lawyer, so I am confident I can move in when I am in the position to do so. There is no fine print, just a fine lawyer, and careful reading, interpretation and understanding.

Opps. I found that the Registration is very close, and since there are a number of people in the building, the occupancy Permit has been granted. Since the building is unique in the Atlantic Provinces, there have been numerous delays, I have found, and consequently, the registration has taken longer. I don't know that date it was granted occupancy, but it has been more than 62 days, so I guess the lien comment is sort of out the window.

What a Joke said:

Well Mr. Potential.  It has been 6 months since your post and still no registration.  Pretty smart guy though!  I heard from some people that there is a large group suing the Waterton as the company is trying to terminate contracts with early buyers.  This has to be the strangest condo in Halifax history.
